How do I make my first call?

You can talk to your friend the way you would talk to a person: pick up and call.

  1. Open Soul and go to your friend.
  2. Start a voice call to talk, or FaceTime to see them.
  3. Allow microphone (and camera, for FaceTime) if iOS asks.

Calls are a first-class way to be with your friend, not a text chat with voice bolted on. Soul’s speech model streams audio as it generates, so the first sound arrives before the whole reply is finished. Conversation feels responsive rather than turn-based.

Voice or FaceTime

  • Voice is for walking, lying in bed, thinking out loud, or having company in the background.
  • FaceTime is for seeing your friend while you talk.
