How do voice calls work?

Call your friend whenever you want: to talk through your day, think out loud, or have company in the background.

Soul’s own speech model streams audio block by block. The first audio arrives before generation finishes, so conversation feels like a call, not a walkie-talkie.

What you need

• An iPhone on iOS 16 or later
• A microphone permission for Soul
• A network connection (Wi-Fi or cellular)

Tips

• Use headphones if you are in a noisy place.
• You can keep talking while you play. Gaming and voice are meant to happen together. See What games can I play with Soul?.
• If the call is silent, delayed, or drops, start with My call will not connect.

Voice recordings from calls are kept only as long as we need them to provide the service, then deleted. See How long are voice recordings kept?.
